Finally I got to see one

Nipped in to Pentland Land Rover today to finally have a look at the D4. I, like everyone else, was totally impressed. It's a class above D3 in terms of the interior and I reckon it is strong and durable enough to cope with the rough and toughness we throw at the D3. The cream leather with piano black was very very nice. I really dislike the cheapy wood effect that is also available though.

I like the front end a lot more than I did when I first set eyes on it. The colour coding moves from the 'iconic silhouette' of the D3 a little, but it's very upmarket and makes it look a lot more like it's worth the £40k it costs. The 3.0 TDV6 XS that was in the showroom seemed excellently well equipped, if a little expensive. The only things we would miss would be the electric front seats and the heaters on the rear seats that were standard on our SE. Apparently they are not an available option. It's a bit of a drastic jump up to the HSE..

It now feels like the perfect balance between rugged and luxury. Provided it can work all of the magic of the D3 but in a more attractive package, it's perfect. I liked it in white with dark windows, too. Watch this space..

I took lots of photos but the Gallery wont let me upload them Rolling Eyes

I also think the 2010 Range Rover looks very good in grey. Grille is a bit 'Bentley' but looks quite special.

Think I would get a late D3 HSE or New FFRR if I were to swap anytime soon . . .

Back on track, had a good look at a D4 XS last week and, whilst I will have one in due course, it looks little different externally to the D3. Just the typical facelift new grill, lights and wheels. I do struggle to see how they justify the list prices. I will just hope that they bring out an SE at £2-3k above the XS or seriously upgrade the XS spec to what my 06MY SE has as standard. Then with a 10% discount it will be worth a go. Still a seriously high price the change though!

The D4 HSE in Farnell Guiseley showroom (only one I've had a decent butchers at) has a GPS shark fin on the roof like the early D3's had, but my 08.5MY D3 hasn't - which I prefer... Any idea why this is?

Same here. I thought "Aw bless, fresher's week and young Chris (no pun intended) has had a wee sneaky peek....."

Sorry to be 2 weeks late with this observation. Been a bit busy 8)

You know something, I was stuck in a LR dealership today waiting for 1.5 hrs for a job being done on my seat Embarassed .
Just dawned on me that I didn't even have the inclination to get up and wander over to have a look at the D4.
Now what does that say ?
Don't ask me ... I've no idea ... that's just what happened!
