Landrover raised air intake
Just fitted mine.... some observations
DON'T assume it is a snorkel, it is as described - a raised air intake.
There is no seal around where the intake grille used to be and there are two slots in the ducting approximately 20mm x 25mm, these go through to the inner wing and will let water in.
Fitting is easy, with the following 'gotchas'
The intake grill has two plastic latches on the bottom edge, approximately 40mm in from each side, a small flat bladed screwdriver will release them (thanks RLD ).
The Rivnut's require a 9.5mm diameter hole, not 7mm as shown in the instructions
The 16mm spacer ring WILL drop behind the 'A' pillar trim if installed as per instructions, place it on the set screw and slide into place that way.
The 'head' looks as if the intake slots were routed by someone in the advanced stages of Parkinson's disease.... lots of rough edges, spend a bit of time deburring the slots and it looks a lot better
As mentioned above, there is no watertight seal, I've partially overcome this with some draught excluder type foam seal against the wing, although I need to find a solution for the two cut-outs mentioned previously... i'll post some piccies when I get it sorted
The screw caps for the two mounting screws have nothing to grip to, - a bead of clear silicone is holding them in place. One popped out whilst I was getting the tube of silicone so there's not much chance of them withstanding a motorway drive without it.
Notwithstanding all of the above, I still think it looks less intrusive than the Safari version and follows the lines of the vehicle better

A reason more to wait for the safari In a time of chimpanzees, I was a penguin.

Unless Safari have re-engineered the air intake duct, it will be the same - raised air intake, not snorkel
That said, i'm well used to interpreting manufacturers wording, I bought it primarily for the cyclone effect head to minimise dust intake, and any wading benefits second. It's also worth bearing in mind that the heater air intake on the scuttle trim is only about 150mm higher than the standard air intake so even if it was sealed, you could harly expect to wade up to the door handles without some water ingress to the cabin

aah ok now I see...
mmmm bummer.
My idea for a "snorkel" is the same as yours, but better to know this in advance, rather than thinking you're ok
As for the water in the cabin..; I preffer that than in the engineIn a time of chimpanzees, I was a penguin.

Mine hads a foam pad that was about 8mm thick and has the same foot print or contact area to match the air intake contact surface to the wing Does that make sense?. Much the same as a safari raised air intake. In the Beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

yep, the foam pad comes with it, it fits between the mounting bracket and the riser tube, there is nothing to form a seal between the bracket and the air inlet duct, in addition to the two cutouts where the bracket locates on the inside of the body panel
Pick mine up Friday, would have had it today if Yeovil had managed to send it to my work address as they agreed, instead I ended up with a card from the courier through my letterbox! Never mind, it was a good price
Would it not be possible to stick something over the cutouts? The End

yep, just got to work out what the air intake ducting also needs something more positive than friction to be able to resist water pressure
I have some good stuff that will do the job easy I will show you on Saturday.
I won't bother putting the screw caps on then (assuming I get round to fitting it Friday)The End

Do you have all the tools to fit the intake chap. I could help you fit it at my place if you want, I have all the kit to do it, should only take 10 minutes. In the Beginning there was nothing, which exploded.
