Discovery 3 versus Range Rover Sport NO CONTEST |
|
Today my wife and I went to the L/R experience at Skipton in our Discovery 3 to have a free half day with them in the Range Rover Sport courtesy of LandRover marketing . Well I have got to say that my thoughts were before today I must have the R/R sport as my next car. Well I can tell you that after today my mind has been changed for ever. The RRS is SMALL it has no boot at all, the freelander looked bigger !!!the rear seats dont lay flat. Hit my head on the LOW roof. Actaully felt a little trapped due to the lack of space around the seats. Doors much smaller tham the Disco 3 less room in the rear for passengers. Drive a little harsh on the road. Off road it matched the Disco for ability on every section of the course. This is a much smaller car then the Disco 3 . No good if you have dogs, several kids to the football, shopping (with my wife!)
What a disapointment it was, sorry Landrover but this car just looks really cool but that is just about it.
My next car will definately be another Disco 3 but a higher spec Landrover Discovery 3 TDV6 S 7 seat Automatic

No doubt your observations are valid to you but I can't see myself driving round in a Transit Connect (sorry guys the old ones are the best) RR Sport TDV6 HSE Rimini Red (Rimini Brown at events), 20" wheels (19's for events), PTI, towpack. FBH installed!!

M@verick - why do you say you have a RRS when your name and picture give the game away.
Maybe it is just because it's dirty, but I'm sure that's a Ford Maverick or a Nissan Terrano under that mud??
I admit to having a van, but then, my D3 is 'commercialised' so why wouldn't I? Looks a hell of a lot better than yours though - and I bet it's quicker too. Do you keep a toy poodle in the back as well? Bet you haven't got a real dog

Talking from an unbiased position I must agree with Maverik - the RRS is a far better car! Loving the power of the TDV8!

Looks like the valet has been slacking again. I think he has been spending too much time in the kitchen with the butler and the maids. Sack 'em all I say. Mind though, be careful with those lefties...... there will be no-one left to dress you in the morning if you do that

Excuse me but to many pictures of RRS now appearing on this site, Please could the moderator moderate. Are things so bad on the RRS sitet hey have to appear here.
The Discovery 3 is the best car I have ever had the privilege to drive.
I exepct RRS friends have realised once they have bought their cars they wished they had bought a discovery 3 instead but cant bring themselves to say it . Landrover Discovery 3 TDV6 S 7 seat Automatic

Hi Lancsamb
Funny how I see nearly all your disadvantages of the RRS as advantages:
- the RRS is smaller - great
- the RRS has a smaller boot - and looks like it too!
- the roof is lower (and more aerodynamic)
- there is less space around the seats (and the drive more involving)
- the drive is harsher (and handling better)
- the RRS is no good if you have loads of dogs and several kids (but perfect if you haven't)
It all depends on what you want/need, really.

IMO the RRS belongs here:

Each to their own of course & thank goodness we all don't have the same taste.
