oh dear - first problem with my D3
I was driving down the M3 yesterday when the vehicle started to vibrate - from the rear & building up as though it was moving along the car to behind the front seats. I had to dive for the hard shoulder but couldn't see anything wrong. After checking the obvious, tyres, things hanging off etc I started off again only for the same thing to happen. Same old rigmarole before limping for the rest of the journey at 50 but it didn't happen again.
At my destination, there was a strong smell of clutch\brake pads - I think the O/S/R brake may have been binding but I certainly felt no effects whilst driving.
Anyone recognise the symptoms? Any tips other than getting it to a dealer asap?56 HSE

warm to the touch.
would a sticking caliper cause the vibration? It's happened a total of 3 times now, 2 seperate incidents - hopefully it's something quick & easy to sort56 HSE

I've had the same - a really striking resonance in the cabin, coming from the rear - but it stopped doing it and the wheels are cool to the touch. However, I think I'll put the car into the dealer for an EPB clean and adjust before I drive down to Marseilles.

cool thanks guys. I'll give the dealer a call & get it booked in. Not long before the warranty runs out so may as well get them to give it a thorough going over too.56 HSE
Exactly the problem I had - a stuck brake caliper was the cause. That and the cruise control 'clock spring' are the only two failures I've had in over 4 years (can't really blame LR for the rodent that ate the fuel line).Time flies like an arrow; fruit flies like a banana

Absolutely, only figured it was the brake caliper when I jumped out and looked at each wheel & saw glowing from the caliper reflected in the disk. Was the 3rd time of bad vibration. Happened to a different caliper later, knew what to look for and saw disc glowing, RAC recovered me to stealer. Disc glowing and wheel too hot to touch.
