Trailer Tow Wiring

There are two electrical connectors in the rear quarter trim panel on the driver’s side. I believe that they connect to the optional trailer tow harness. Can anyone identify the pins on these two connectors?

Nevermind i got it

the biggest issue was you have to use some type of load to measure the output ~ i.e. a test light

with a meter several read hot ~ even turn signals while signalling

with a load it was very easy

i will post the colors tomorrow

thanx for everything

the wife is going to fetch the trailer now !!!

The wiring diagram that I obtained from the local LR dealer is a little different from the one posted by Wiggs. It may be the difference between UK and NA.

It shows the blue for a user installed electric brake module, orange is a 30 amp ignition switched power feed, the dark green is reversing lamps, the brown is tail lamps, the yellow is LH indicator/stop, the lighter green is RH indicator/stop, and white is earth.

MHB your list of the wiring is exactly what was on the truck

so the end result is pretty nice ~ i re pinned that factory wires into a 7 pin amp connector ~ then built a custom harness to a 7 position trailer connector from our local store for 20$

all in all cost about 30$ plus 1.5 hours of labor

thanx all

cheers!!!

Any chance someone could re-up the North American wiring diagrams or give a quick rundown of what each wire color is? I'm just trying to finish my wiring install, its getting cold now Smile so i dont want to spend too much time with a test light.

Thanks

Update:

There is only one now that i'm unsure about.

Green = Right Turn Lamp
Yellow = Left Turn Lamp
Brown = Tail Lamps
Blue = Brake Controller
Dark Green/Brown = Reverse
Orange = Aux Power Supply

Red/Yellow = ????? This one didn't show any voltage during the normal Left/Right/Brakes/Reverse routine.

Anyone?

Sorry - newby question for you.

Do you have to get the trailer connector enabled by the dealer or does it work OK as it is? I ask as the dealer I just bought a Disco from says you need to get it "enabled" by their magic computer, which seems odd to me.

Are the connectors on the vehicle capable of driving trailer lights directly or do I need to rig up relays + power feeds from the Disco battery?

Thx.

It will work without being activated by the dealer,however long term probably as well to get it done,as it also alters suspension settings,parking sensors etc.My dealer did it for nowt when it was in for service.No need for relays etc Thumbs Up
