Hello All: Looking to buy a 12volt-DC to 240V Inverter, looking to find out which brands are good. Looking at getting a 600watt unit as I only need to charge Laptop, Camera etc: Has anyone had a good/bad run with any particular unit/brand.
Any help much appreciated. D3 TDV6 HSE Great Drive, Bull Bar, Cargo Draws, Dual Battery don't need anymore.

Hi
I have a powertech 380w, surge 650w, don't see why you would need a 600w, I run laptop, phone, lights etc. Make sure you get a sinewave, better for laptop.

youd be better off with a convertor rather than an invertor unless you have a 240v only appliance

Funney enough I picked up a "MotorPro" 200W unit in Kmart a few months ago, chopped of the Cigarette Lighter plug and put on a 30A Anderson to plug into my rigrunner, under the back seat (5 seat "S") & has a 4 way power board plugged in. I can reach under the seat to turn on/off as required.
For $40 it was cheap and is used to charge/run my Dell 1530 laptop, and power packs for other stuff as required.
Seeing the wife will put up with me using a gas stove if we run out of hot water and she wants a cuppa, I don't have to drive a Microwave and spend $,000's just to power it....

i bought a 12V 300W powertech inverter (modified sine wave) from Jaycar
300W continuous / 1000W surge for around $70 about 9months ago.
i run my laptop and also nextg home network gateway - works a treat.
has a separate on/off switch and just use a standard power board to attach the devices.
been great when on-call for work 2009 Discovery 4 3.0 TDV6 HSE
1985 LR 110 County 3.5 V8
(what options?!)
