How long for a factory order on a D4?

How's it working if I want a car built to my spec? Delivery before the 01/01/10 VAT increase or not?

Cheers

I have been quoted 10 to 12 weeks by a couple of dealers.

Same here, I've decided to wait for dealer demo stock to become available in 3 months time, might get a bit of discount although not expecting much.

That's how I understand it so 1st Jan onwards registrations are 17.5% and then whatever the rate might go up to after the election.

Interesting comment about lack of discounts when the websites are suggesting loads. No idea if the latter could deliver before the y/e though.

Might be worth checking but I would have expected that the VAT will be levied on delivery/payment rather than on registration, as there is nothing stopping you buying a car & never registering/using it on the public road Wink
If that is the case, then as long as the vehicle is physically available & it's paid for before the deadline, even though not actually registered, you may be OK Shocked Perhaps worth checking with VAT office?

Only problem with paying for a car before taking delivery is if the dealership goes belly up...remember anderson cars up here...

Deffinately worth checking as when rates dropped work done in 08 but invoiced in 09 was still at old rate, might be same other way round. Where are the D3 driving tax accountants when you need them!!! Big Cry Big Cry

Quite right - definitely don't give any dealer cash up front & if they want a deposit insist on paying it by credit card.

When I said "physically available" I should have clarified that I was meaning you to "physically take delivery"... that's what I did the last time, had it delivered a week or so before the start of the month & just kept it on the drive at home Shocked
