D4 in Luxembourg...finally |
|
Finally got to see the D4 today. Only very quickly - it had just been delivered at the dealer.
on the back it didn't have all the "3.0 TDV6" or whatever some posters have said they have seen (and makes the rear look very cluttered). Not too sure about the rear light clusters - I think it will be colour dependent as to how they blend in.
HSE version - the wheels looked like 18". No cameras, sunroof, premium leather etc. We will have to pay for a fair amount of kit that is standard in the UK.
Now I have seen it, I do like the interior as it is a step up. Would still be worried about getting that type of interior as dirty and knocked as the D3's. I like the front changes, especially the way the front bumper is smoother.
And now that I have seen it for real rather than from pictures...I DEFINITELY do not like the front grill. Looks too plasticky and fussy.
Should be able to get a drive when I am back from holiday and LR holds a weekend event at our local quarry come play area...The dealer principle said it will be there... The next American ex-pat that calls it a "truck" is going to find out what 2.7 tons feels like on their foot...
Club "yes, I too have had the EGR's replaced..."
Club "yes, I too have had the compressor replaced..."
Club "yes, I too once had the car at the dealer for a couple of weeks nearly 4 weeks over 4 weeks...5 weeks"
Club "yes, I too have had EPB failure..."
Club "yes, I too get mysterious bings and bongs..."

Hey JF, what colour was it? Interior? I'm sure the front grill aesthetics depends on the exterior colour! Looks better near gray tones.

Which means it will definitely, definitely won't grow on me and I will continue not to like it... as the exterior was Stornoway Grey (or whatever they are calling it now...).
Interior was black leather.
And to add - on the way home I moved my hand around the center console to simulate using the high/low range and TR controls. It felt more natural to have them where they are now. When I reach forward to where the controls would be in the D4 it was not as comfortable or as easy. But that could just be habit and what I am used to. The next American ex-pat that calls it a "truck" is going to find out what 2.7 tons feels like on their foot...

Did you get any photos? Especially the interior, ebony ones seem to be quite rare.
