United Kingdom

Electronic Traction Control vs Dynamic Stability Control.

ETC prevents wheelspin, by detecting excess acceleration of a wheel, then applies the brake momentarily on that wheel.

DSC uses clever electrickery, along with accelerometers and other input from the car to apply the brakes on diametrically opposing wheels to help prevent loss of control, it can also cut power from the engine.

Turning off the DSC helps in some situations, like deep snow or sand, but it leaves then traction control operating.
