Discovery 3 - access to the air vents under front seat
We believe my daughters iPod has gone into the rather large air vents situated under the front passenger seat. Does anyone have any advice on hwo these can be retrieved? I am guessing it will be seat/carpet removal at least, any pointers here would be much appreciated.Archirep
When my phone went into the vent under the drivers seat I was able to extract it with the use of a torch and a pair of chop sticks! As you slide down the banister of life

I use an old toothbrush with reverse rolled gaffer tape (stick side outwards), good for picking up clips etc but may work on larger stuff.

I've used hot melt glue on the tip of a stick to retrieve such large items before (moving to super glue for smaller items). I use a wooden stick and break the end off rather than cut it so there's an excellent contact surface for the glue. Obviously there's a middle ground between going too quickly and shoving the item further out of reach, and going so slowly the glue hardens before you make contact. Good luck.
I'm sure I don't have to remind you how much hot melt glue hurts if you get it on your fingers...Dr. Ian Malcolm:

Check under the seat rails first particularly under the bak of the inside one.
If you can't see it with a torch you may be better getting the seats up.
When you have done all this search your daughters room. “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

any tips on what is needed to get the seats out? Will also try the stick and torch suggestions too.
Thank you. Archirep
Be VERY careful when moving the seat. Favourite place to lose stuff is between the centre console and the seat rails (and you'll not see it without a mirror and a torch). If it's down there and you move the seat in a hurry there may be a crunch followed by an expensive screaming noise from your daughter.....I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

I have a snap-on camera unit with a 2 foot camera flex that you could put up the air vent to see if its there before you start raving it apart
Im not a million miles away in Scunthorpe if you need it
