Just need some help please on which oil would be ok for TDV6 ,
i Know the recommended is 05w30, But as i have Turbochip , would 05w40 silkolene Pro S, be ok- im asking , as i like many others seem to get slight tappity noise at low revs,a little like pinking ,and thought the thicker grade oil may quieten things down
Thanks

I personally would not do it. There are now quite a few D3's that have achieved very high mileages on standard oil only. I think the noises you mention are probably normal diesel engine sounds. If it is making an unusual noise, it would be better to sort out the problem than to hide it with thick oil.

cheers for the reply gareth
what good quality oil would you recomend , surly putting in 05w40 wouldnt have any adverse affects would it..main reason is for me running turbo chip wich will obviously run the engine at higher temps so thinking of safe guards

Most who have had tunes have remained with the recommended oils. I ran with TorqTune for 2 years on my last with no adverse effects concerning temperature or oil choice...can't see it being much different in your case TBH ....let it be is my advice 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021
