How do I mount roofrails ? |
|
I am going to mount Front Runner roofrails on my Disco from 2005. How do I find the places where to drill through the rubberstrip, which covers the boltholes ?
If somebody could give me a detailed instruction of mounting the roofrails I would be very happy.
Best regards. Calle - disguised as adult.

hey calle,
am not too familiar with the front runners, but to find where to drill you can just peel the whole of that strip up, that'll reveal the mounting holes. one wife.......livid

Front Runner not on LR site you dont refit the plastic bit at the back cut the plastic bit so it finishes just under the front of the rail your FR rails should have a Rubber track on the base of the rail

and yes the rubber strip just clips back opn, you just push with your hands after you've cut it, easy as,
the hardest thing to do is take a hacksaw to it one wife.......livid

OK. Have tried to lift up the strips and seen the mountingpoints. What about the legs just over frontseats. Are they bolted, and if they are - do I have to unscreww the bolt every time I want to remove the rack ?

OK Slimer.
Does that mean, that I just drill a small hole in the strip for the bolt ?
What about the frontlegs ? Calle - disguised as adult.

Yes, pull the trim out the gutter, identify where you need to drill the holes, drill 'em, put spacers around holes (they come with the rails), replace trim, fit rails & front leg bases, ready for rack fitting
You could leave the front leg bases on when you remove the rack or remove them and pop a couple of grommets in the holes The End
