Anyone driven to Southern Spain in D3?

Hi,

Been thinking about driving down to Southern Spain (Callahonda) from the UK.

Anyone done it and got any recommendations? How much fuel, miles etc....

went down to Murcia in May this year and in December 2007.

Did it in about 24 hours non stop in 2007

Fuel ? - YES recommended (used lots of it, but as fuel in Spain was .89 euros a litre, it was almost a pleasure spending the money !!!

you can take the A7/AP7 all the way down and the Tolls in spain are a fraction of what they are in France.

How far south are you going Kev? Been doing this trip for the past 15 years only I take a turn left at Sevilla and head towards Portugal. If you are going direction/below Sevilla, avoid Madrid and take the western route through Valladolid and Salamanca. All highways are almost finished and its more quiet than you can imagine.
And like DiscoDunc says, try to avoid taking fuel in France, or as little as possible. Spain is so much cheaper.

Hopefully going down to Southern coast. dad has an apartment in Callahonda which is virtually spot on in between Marbella and Malaga on the coast road.
I have three children (9,6 and 4) but my 9 year old daughter doesnt fly well. So thought it would be a good 'life experience' to drive down there....LOL

I figure all the ICE AGE dvd's and all the HSM dvd's would cover the trip along with Nintendo DS's......

I was thinking of powrring through France on one day then stopping just over the Spanish border for the night then continuing the next day down to Callahonda.

We have been out there a few times before, with no childrn and then with young babies and have left stuff there such as clothes etc. as Dad is possibly going to sell soon (due to ilness and not using the place) I thought we could bring the gear home easier in the Disco than packing a couple of extra cases and lugging them on a plane.

Probably need my head read wanting to do trip with three young children though...LOL

Thumbs Up

when we went down in 2007 we took a whole load of stuff for the apartment. The car was FULL to the roof right upto the front seats and the stuff on the roof rack was nearly 3ft high Shocked

D3 performed great. We had to be a little careful hooning down the windy dual carriageways/mways with all that stuff on the roof but overall the car was great and an easy drive.
