ball joints and wishbones? |
|
fellas
just had 75k service done, dealer recons ball joints badly worn (but weren't at 60k??). Anyway, I seem to recall an uprated ball joint being talked about. Is it all part of the wishbone assembly (so the whole caboodle needs changing). Is there now a choice (uprated or "standard")
Guess I can get prices for the parts from Nick once I know what I need. Anybody done these themselves? Easy/Hard job?
Cheers

TLO, (Q1) do you have a part # for the complete control arm assembly including bushes and ball joints (version 3 / newest version)? I am having mine replaced in 2 weeks because of my rear lower control arm bushings having disentegrated.
(Q2) Also, you mention 35mm, what was version 2?
(Q3) have the upper control arms had any uprated parts inserted at all?
Thanks!!!!! 16 D4 Landmark

Sorry to ask but is a wishbone the same as steering rack arm?
I have been quoted £330 to replace both steering rack arms?
IS this what he is on about the wishbones including ball joint?
Cheers

no, steering rack arm is something else. Its the rod that comes out of the steering rack and goes to the hub (one each side). It does have a ball joint (in this case called a track rod end) on one end.
