V8 very slow start and sputtering? |
|
I had a strange starting issue this morning. I turned the ignition and it kept turning and turning and wouldn't start. I turned the key off and tried again several times. After about 2 minutes of trying, it finally started and sputtered for about 30 seconds then started running as normal. Wasn't cold at all this morning (maybe 12 degrees C?) But after it started, exhaust was pouring from the tailpipes...couldn't tell if it was actual smoke or just the temperature. But it did smell very petrol-ish and sulfur-ish.
It's been running fine since this morning. Acceleration was normal, had it parked for a bit and restarted just fine. Just a fluke? or should I setup a service call? 2013 LR4 HSE lux | Santorini Black | 5.0 V8

I`d get the battery checked, if it isn`t functioning properly then engine will sound as if it is spinning quickly but there won`t be enough spare power to fire it up (ignition system draws lot of current), will then flood. Don`t know how old yours is but LR have recently uprated batteries.
