Suspension Wiring Issue
Guys, anyone know about the suspension wiring?
The car had a "Suspension Normal Height Only" issue a couple of weeks back.
Dealer tracked it to a corroded wiring connector behind the NSF wheel arch (a few forum members have had thi). Apparently this is a design fault that was changed in later models.
They got the car fixed but warned that if it re-occurred it would need the wiring harness from the NSF connector to the compressor replaced.
The problem is that they suggested 20 hours labour! (at £80/hour)
Obviously the Select warranty excludes wiring faults
Anyone know if 20 hours is right?
Can a keen amatuer run the new cable or is it best left to those who know what they're doing?Sail Fast - Live Slow...
Wasn't this an issue that was supposed to have been corrected at the enhancement?? I seem to remember a moisture issue in that connector. OR am I thinking of something else.Have a nice day!

It is still an issue even now. It wasnt part of the enhancement, however, the wiring loom was revised at 06/07MY
If you really wanted to, you could cut out the whole connector and use crimped heatshrink connectors for a better repair My D3 Build Thread
Found the TSB that was issued TSB LA204-001V2. The procedure is as you describe. discard connector and hardwire.Have a nice day!

Ill dig a picture outi have, there ae 3 connectors under the NSF wheel arch to the read of the wheel.
I have many times removed every wire one by one and solderd directly to its mating half , this has fixes many faults.
There are also 2/3 connectors on the top of the chassis rail next to the NSR wheel that suffer this corrosion problem also.
Ive done quite a few of these now over the years with good results.

Here is the NSF arch wires, ill dig out the rear one.
A soldering iron heat srink and some black tape along with a few hrs and its sorted.
Take one pin/ wire out at a time from each side of the connectors and solder them together, keep going untill you have removed all the plugs.

Our 2005 has a daily "Normal Height Only" after driving (or sometimes just sitting) just a few minutes. I am from the US. where is the suspect connector(s)? I would like to unplug and clean if necessary.

Do you have to actually remove the liner? Are all of the plugs pictured above involved in the problem (i.e. should I clean them all?) Or is it just one of the three plugs?
Thanks for the help.Current Rovers:

Forgive my ignorance Pete, but if the connectors are soldered (and I know how important that is for low power data signals), what happens when the engine requires a 'body off' procedure?Dr. Ian Malcolm:

unsolder them is the only way, not to hard realy.
Engine change dont need the body off tho.

Update - after discussion with the techs in the stealers, we may have a solution without replacing the entire suspension harness - watch this space..........
troverman - my problem is with the blue plug and the red/purple heavy wire going to the compressor.
It appears corrosion from the plug has travelled along this wire.Sail Fast - Live Slow...
