Safari Snorkel Fitted Today.
After months of debating as to either a RAI (Landrover) or a Safari Snorkel i decided the Safari Snorkel was the one to fit as it does offer far more protection as opposed to the Rai from LR.
BEWARE it's not a job for the faint hearted as it involves drilling 5 holes in the outer wing, 5 holes in the A plillar and a serious bit of inner wing modification to the airbox inlet hole.
The supplied instructions from safari are very easy to follow as long as you have the right tools and the total fitting time was about 3 hours. I will post some pictures later today of the procedure in case any members want to do the same, also if they want advice or even practical help then it's no problem at all for me just send a pm. Steve

How does the Safari get around the big rubber holed elbow before the airbox?...... always on the road less travelled 🚧

Two holes in the wing and one in the A-pillar is enough holes for me... The next American ex-pat that calls it a "truck" is going to find out what 2.7 tons feels like on their foot...

I've been toying with fitting the Safari snorkel for a while but was a little put off by the 'extreme' body work modifications...
I'd be really interested in how you got on and what it looks like now it's fitted.
Do you have an air hacksaw as advised in the fitting instructions I've read or did you manage to use something else?
Pictures would be great I see no ships........

What you do is completley replace all the LR components with the Safari kit, superb instructions supplied with kit. Steve

Doesn't matter as the A pillar strip hides the fixing holes and as regards to the wing if you remove the snorkel then it's a fill and repair job anyway 2 or 5 holes doesn't matter Steve

I will post some pics later after work, there is no need for an air hacksaw to enlarge the air box fixing, i used a 60mm Holesaw cutter, then a 20 mm holesaw cutter, and finished off with a rubber mounted grinding tool all the edges were smoothed off and then a quick spray of matt black paint job done! I can lend you all the tools no problem as you are only down the road from me or i will help you do the job .
Allow about 3 hours start to finish. Steve

One of the instant benefits is the increased air intake (Volume) to the engine and as it is connected to a K&N the engine will perform a lot more efficiently, this was the first thing i noticed when taking her for a test drive and also no wind noise so as to speak. Steve

Has anyone experience of fitting the matzker model and any issues with it? Apologies if this is posted elsewhere I've got an idea - an idea so smart that my head would explode if I even began to know what I'm talking about. Peter Griffin - Family Guy

Thanks CFB One thing i did think whist fitting the Safari was the quality of the components and the fitting instructions were spot on... very reassuring.
The unit was tested yesterday and the result was as per expected Superb! also no road noise so as to speak.Steve
