*UPDATE*Gauging Interest- Allisport performance intercooler |
|
As above, My D3 is being used as a testbed in a couple of weeks for an uprated intercooler for the D3.
Objective is an increase in Donkeys plus potentially an easy clean/removal system if a suitable design can be manufactured "you cannot teach stupid people to do clever things"

Have they sorted out the 'bursting' issue with the 07MY Deafener? VVT's and transient overboost are not kind to their method of intercooler construction...

Oh yea thanks for the reminder, must get mine refunded.
I thought that modern diesel vehicles ran with cooler intake systems therefore bigger intercoolers were not a necessity any more In the Beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

Do you get silicone hoses with the kit?
Just about to try a set of their hoses on the '91 200tdi deafener. I'm on a whisky diet. I've lost three days already.

Quick update on this with pics to follow, 2 designs are being fabricated, 1 being as a direct replacement but the intercooler is being moved further up and has bigger cores so for those that use your D3s offroad it will be easy to remove and a lot less prone to blocking are the fcore will be larger free flowing design.
The 2nd design will be a performance model and will be a larger unit that again will sit nearer te top of the condenser/radiator.
I will be testing both once the vehicle is back next week..ill let you know the results. "you cannot teach stupid people to do clever things"

I would be interested in somthing that made the intercooler easier to clean. by the time I get home from a weekend away the mud in the intercooler has set solid. it then takes ages to try and clean it, and never really gets cleaned properly.
its a stupid place to put it in the first place Duncan

The larger one is looking to be 3x the size of the original and not as thick so should provide plenty of cooling "you cannot teach stupid people to do clever things"

I might be interested in this once I get past 100k and not eligible for the Warranty anymore.
I had a Allisport intercooler on my D2, made an enormous difference to it's performance considering it was a direct replacement and not any bigger.
(Have it in the shed with the ITG filter if anyone is interested, only used onroad for a couple of months.)
Allisport are good guys to deal with..... 8) ------------------------------
