I think you should be adding them at the front myself.

ANd maybe the value is incorrect.

Arh they getting warm? if No, then poor connection

Hi Pete,

Thanks for the quick response.

I've taken them out & put them back in again so I have the following.

All soldered joints

4 x 15 Ohmn 25W Ballast resistors
2 x Valeo D4 rear light set
2 x Twenty20 LED Indicator bulbs

The rear resistors are fitted into the loom each side as per a thread on here.
(Initally when I did this with just the LEDs on the front & standard on the rear it solved the double click problem)

The front resistors are fitted in each headlight unit as per CRWoodys suggestion on page 9 of this thread.

Now with 4 x resistors & the LED#s front & rear i'm still getting the double click

Any thoughts as i'm at a loss

Further update.

I've just checked all 4 resistors with the multi meter to ensure they are all 15 ohmn load which they are. I've changed the front wiring to wire them into the loomrather than the light unit & checked they are picking up the indicator positives (Green White for OS, Green Red for the NS & i'm using a known ground cable on both sides.

Still double clicking

If you connect resistors in parallel you will reduce the overall resistance not increase it. Install in series to increase the total resistance.

In series, you can add up the ohms to get the total resistance value.

In parallel, IIRC the formula is

[edit] I can't get the formula to work without a fixed width font - google it Laughing

Well I've faft with this all day & can't fathom whats up.

If I take the front LED's out & replace with normal bulbs normality is restored. If i do the same with the rear lights & put the D3 lights back normality is restored. If I have LED's all round, double clicker!

I'm now considering changing all the resistors for 6 ohm rather than 15 units from AF as a stab in the dark rather than an educated decision.

Thanks for the detail on using resistors in serial, but as i'm no electrician that probably more information than i should be trust with Whistle

If you've managed to wire the resistors in parallel then you can manage in series. It literally just means you put one after the other in a chain (two resistors one after another) rather than two resistors 'side by side'

Hi James

Thanks for the reply. I understand the principal of how to wire in serial. I'm just not sure if it will have the result I'm after Very Happy

Everything seems to point to the need to increase the load so perhaps 2 x 15 ohm in serial on the rea each side would be preferable to 15 ohm on each corner which would be in parralell I guess?

I'm struggling to understand how 6 ohm appear to work in other posts yet 15 ohm don't unless the lower the reference the higher the resistance. This is were it all become a black art to me. Laughing

series will make it worse. It increases resistance. (and you want to reduce)

I can only conclude the overall load is measure per side. (not front/back as I thought)

I would try 3 resistors on one side (with LEDs) and see if you get 1 side to flash correctly with LEDs
In parallel.

If it does you know you need to buy another pair of resistors.

Note it does take some time, to detect a good bulb, so don't be fooled, and turn the indicators on and off several times before saying its no good.

P.S personally I would use bulbs

Hi Pete

See I just prove the point that a little knowledge is A Dangerous Thing!

The fault codes she throws when the bulbs are removed would indicate that it can only detect left or right side not front or rear so as you say to try and get one side working correctly should be my first port of call.

Are you suggesting in your final sentence that you would prefer LEDs over normal bulbs or I should use normal bulbs to create the load rather than resistors? That thought did cross my mind earlier but I didn't know where to put them.

The saga concludes......

6ohm 50W on the front indicator LED's & 15ohm 25W on the rears. A resistor for each corner.

Normal clicker rate resumed.

Glad that's sort

De-Tangoed today. 7 minutes at 80 degrees C seemed to work for me. Second went a lot easier than the first one.

Anyone know what this little badger is for, wasn’t any bulb in there when I pulled the headlight apart?
