The "sealant" used between the lamp body and clear front lens is a softish thermoplastic material, heating it allows the lamp unit to be separated fairly easily, remove the screws first though! once you've done whatever is needed inside, the front and back can be put together and the screws put back in, when it's re-heated, the sealant softens and the screws can be tightened to make the seal complete again. No further sealant is required.
The amber bit is easy to remove, you'll see once you get inside.Clive

No resistors, these are just bulbs, same as the originals. If you have xenons then hids4u does very good LEDs for side lights, search for LEDs and hids4u, you should find a thread with discount code Joined the BMWX5 45e group

So at long last I've just finished the headlight mod, and I have to say I'm really chuffed with the finished result.
I replaced the indicator bulbs with 3156 LED Ultra Power Amber bulbs from HIDS4U, they look pretty good when off and have really good colour and light spread when lit.
The only issue I have is the internal 'clicker' now indicates at twice the speed while the indicators are on, almost as if a bulb has blown, but the lights outside are all operating at the correct speed.
I have heard about this before and that resistors can solve the problem?? What size, where from, how do I fit them and where??
Any ideas...This is my Discovery, there are many like it but this one is mine, without me my Discovery is useless, without my Discovery I am useless...

I really wanted all the orange gone but did'nt like the look with the chrome strip so i fitted a clear type strip instead of the orange strip, i also blacked some parts of the inner silver headlamp parts as my car is black... Quite happy with the results...

cam-tech-craig, can I ask where you got the clear type strip instead of the orange from, think that looks great.
