Hi Folks,
I just noticed I am being ripped off - severely - with my current policy and want to change.
Does anyone have a preferred insurer which covers "offroad" incidents and windscreen cover?
The definition of "offroad" is also a gray area... I expect some insurers would consider fire trails through National Parks and/or state forests as being offroad!
Thanks for any thoughts/preferences!
Cheers,
Rob

Jonesy,
I am with CGU - they cover me on all gazetted roads (which includes almost all the 4wding I do) as long as I am not "competing".
My cover includes all nominated aftermarket accessories, such as bars, winches and the drawer system – at agreed value (i.e. not market replacement). Also includes windscreen replacement.
I negotiated it all through the Bendigo Bank as intermediary and it was easy to get.
I cant recall exactly, but the premium is about $700-800(??) with agreed value of $87K @ $450 excess. Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent.

TCIS Insurance was available through 4wd clubs and was very good, but alas now way too expensive.
AN4WD Insurance was the same too, .
Now their is no such thing as loyalty from Insurance companies so I find it best to shop around every year.
Just make sure you read their fine print.
Most Insurance companies will cover you as long as you where on a "Gazetted Road" 2005 TDV6 HSE Silver, LLAMS Height Controller, Tinted Glass, Onroad - 19" GG AT's, Offroad - 18" 275/65 MT, Traxside Dual Battery kit, Rasta Protection Plate, Alpine Roof, BAS Remap, ARB Air Compressor, eDiff Custom Drawer and storage unit -http://www.box.com/s/jem0ilac3cner2mexq64 UHF CB, 4x4 Intellegence RWC, 120ltr Long range tank, Rock Sliders and Compressor protection plate Beanie grill, De Tango.

Thanks Tristan and Rich.
It seems that all the quotes I am getting are within $100 either side of $1500 (AAMI/NRMA/CGU). The first year of insurance was $1250, and the lease company has now bumped that up to $3008!!! That cover doesn't cover windscreens and trailers! I'm about to send a rocket to them!

Guys, I am with Allianz via COTA as their agent as i am over 50. They have been fantastic on a recent major payout. Rates are very reasonable $727.33. See the string on bad fuel to get details.
Cheers Rob

I am with Allianz also.....premium mid $800's, but registered private and no lease or finance. Business rego and/or lease/finace increases premiums significantly, also wide variations due to postcode. MY07 D3, TDV6S; Bull Bar, Cooper S/T's, Dual Battery, UHF, GPS; 03 D2, 94 D1, both departed & 1950 S1 80" going strong. 06 Astra CDX Coupe.

Rob & Jonesy,
My premiums are lowish becasue i am with COTA, as mentioned before. If you are over 50 as i am then they have extremely good rates. My Disco is under lease and private registered so i am very happy with this deal. When i bought the car i got premium rates to double check and COTA heaps cheaper. I have my 4 vehilces, Peugots 405 MI16 and 306 XT and Farm ute and of course Disco3 as well as horse float, trailer, house & contents. They are excellent in all areas that i have had experience with them and they go into bat with Allianz if you need them to.

You will find a lot of roads are not gazetted (eg part of the Kowmung fire trail, not mention farm tracks or driveways.). Go for policy that only excludes competition and time trials.
GIO paid up on mine when I rolled it on a farm, no questions asked , except the name of the road the property was on.
Agreed value was very good (more than I could sell it for)
Another guy damaged his off road at Menai and they paid up on his too. “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€
