My question is this,
Why do LR build cars which they know needs some sort of fix/upgrade after it leaves the factory.
Our car (which we have owned for a week) left the factory at the beginnigng of Feb 06 and now needs a software upgrade for the reverse mirror dipping and also an upgrade catch for the sunroof blind.
Ive been reading about these 'glitches' on the forum for a few months now so it begs the question, why are these fixes not done on the production line at the factory?
Small irritating issues can spoil a new car.

Your D3 was probably built a while ago which would explain the need for an upgrade. Also think of it as a very good thing that the systems in the car can be 'fixed' or adjusted just via software and not by replacing parts - expensive.

Ive dated most parts on the car and this would indicate that the car was built around end of January 06.
Just feel that its a bit silly that it needs upgades to which 'patches' have been around since the summer for minor glitches.
This would indicate that LR are using outdated software at the factory.
This is only a minor irritation in the grand scheme of things but not something that i would expect to find on a £45,000 car.
Saying all this, i wouldnt swap it for anything and i truly mean that. Its still the best, most exciting car that we have ever owned.

In perspective - the Scottish Parliament building cost £431 million taxpayers pounds and they have found 890 faults with it so far
It's a complex machine and we're not German perfectionists - so love it & live with it !! 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021
