My final warranty job

At 99,000km I went to Trivetts for my final warrenty inspection. I now have;
New transmission. (Dirty oil and a little clutch slip).
New EGR valves.
New lower steering coloumn shaft.
Replaced CV joint boot.
New A/c recirc arm.
Trivetts did all this in two days and I want to thank Peter Broz for his excellent service. A good communicator and I was well looked after. Smile Very Happy

When you say new transmission, do you mean the entire 6 speed automatic gearbox?

Did you have problems with the transmission? What were the symptoms?
What's the point.... it all comes out in the wash anyway!

I had mentioned to them that I thought it "clunked" sometimes when changing down rapidly, e.g. say pulling up at a stop light, as it changed down to low as you were stopping, I thought it may have been a bit "unnatural".
They picked up on driving, that it slipped a little actually on changing up. They checked the oil, said it was darker than it should be and that it had minute clutch particles in it. I might say we continued to use it for another fortnight until the parts arrived, so it hadn't actually folded up.

I tow occasionly, a Kimberley camper (about 1.5T?) and rarely a 26' boat (see my gallery). The boat only on flat going on the tar and the camper I took to the back country and to Tassie this year. Probably about 15k of my 100k.
Norto, you have a PM.

Thanks PBob, interesting. I was thunking down into 1st gear a bit, but last time I went in they updated the software, and also the defective control software for the locking rear ediff. This seemed to fix the clunk down into 1st.

I suggested to them that it may have been a software problem but that was discounted when they took it for a test and also checked the oil.

Auto Tranny Cooler

Davis Performance Landys at Annangrove (Sydney) do an after-market automatic transmission cooler which sits infront of radiator. They say reduces tranny temp by about 30 degC.

Is recommended if you do a lot of towing - I have had it added, cost about $900.

They also recommend that the tranny oil is changed regularly.
