SPECS Going on M4 Newport!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Those who travel the M4 from Cardiff through to Newport will have noticed of late the whole section has gone 50mph. The Welsh Assembly have announced today that next year the whole section will be monitored by SPEC cameras.

How the Censored can these useless Censored get away with this. They have taken a 10 mile section of the M4 and just tunred it slower than a country lane. How do you send a message to Industry that Wales is open for business, oh yes it it, but just very slowly. This is Censored crazy. God help one of these dick heads if they come canvassing on my doorstep. Time for the uprising.

to be fair its a bit of a racetrack on the east side of the bryn glas tunnels in the morning with lanes coming on and off - they need to get that new motorway bypass built to the south

but welcome to the world of motorway capacity reduction (about 30% I calculate) - we have the same stupid setup on the SE corner of the M60 - all because of a couple of d**kheads who crashed and killed themselves - once again the amjority penalised by the actions of the tiniest tiniest minority (and usually their berieved families trying to 'stop it happening again') Evil or Very Mad

When the revolution comes we should lay them all along that stretch of the motorway as speed bumps see if that works. Some one keep a list of names so we get the right ones. Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter

Road safety for the inanely stupid. I don't suppose they bothered to find the root cause of the accidents and publish it did they? Oh silly me they know better than that it was of course "speeding" The police told them so. We'll soon be able to take our ride on mowers out on these roads and be able to break the speed limit. Sorry being flippant of course we would need MOT and road tax etc. Whistle Whistle Whistle

Unfortunately it is not a joke however hard these people try to make it one. Big Cry Big Cry Big Cry Big Cry

The other thing is that the speed limit when the specs are installed will be variable ..a bit like the M25 has an the western section at the moment Wink

The whole are is already set to 50mph with mobile cameras in operation. I went through it the other day and a cop car went in front of us driving across lanes to block passing at 50mph to prove a point. What point I don't know but hey at least the drug dealers and burgulars know they won't get caught Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad

Yep I knew that the 50 was in place but this will go variable if you believe the Welsh Office shpiel. I lived on The Coldra for 20 odd years ...in the early days it was two lanes on either carriageway and hardly any traffic ....how things have changed Sad

I also find the M4 between Cardiff & Swansea very annoying to drive.
Due to over-policing of this stretch, everyone trys to sit at 70mph.
But everyones interpretation of 70mph is slightly different.
Also you're doing 70mph in lane 1, a train of middle lane hoggers moves slowly up to your shoulder in lane 2 and because of gradient etc slows down
Your cruise control is trying to maintain 70 and you're fast aproaching the back end of a truck and cann't pull out cos of hoggers on your shoulder.
[btw, same thing happens in lane 2]
Gggrrrr makes me mad!

but ron you should be watching all this happening using your mirrors, preempt it and pull out into the middle lane before your space disappears - never get boxed in Thumbs Up
