confused new or old manual or auto
Hello All
Liking this site very much.
Not a d3 owner at the moment however hope to be very very soon..... Well as soon as I can decide whether to go for a new manual XS (which is in Buckingham blue with some nice toys) which my local dealership is knocking about 6k off at the moment or look for a used auto etc..... And now with the D4 on the horizon I am very confused?
Any advice ??????

Welcome to the site
I went down the route of buying a slightly older, but higher spec D3 - an 05 auto HSE.
Have had it just over a year and it is great - permagrin all round
First auto I've owned and wouldn't even consider a manual next time I was going to test drive manual and auto, but after driving the auto didn't even bother with the manual

6k off is good, but I'd go for an Auto rather than a manual everytime.
Used auto sounds good if he can't sort you an Auto XS Bodsys Brake Bible

Auto!!! Was gonna buy Mrs DSL a new one but bought her a 2nd hand one from a fellow member at half the price! If you get one older than 3 years IMHO worth getting one under 60k miles as then £419 gets you a good warranty. I run 2 D3s just over 3 yrs and those warranties have saved my financial bacon!

Cheers for the adivce fellas I am getting the Auto vibe here......
Auto is initially what I wanted just seem to get more for your money with a manual (as is often the case)and thats what got me thinking....

Had my Disco 9 months now. First auto I have ever had. Would never buy a manual again
Had a small hire car going skiing for a few days in March, wife had to keep reminding me to change gear. Amazing how much noise small cars make in first on the motorway

i have a manual (swmbo's choice) and i do like it but would prefer an auto, you do get good deals on manuals though so if pennies are an issue..... also the fuel economy is better on manual....

I would say definately an auto - and an older one to save cash - especially one with very low miles and in tip top conditon - rather like the HSE I have for sale in fact...
