Retro fit PTI nokia system |
|
Just phoned Land rover customer services cause our dealership has been struggling with the installation of the Nokia PTI car kit.
We were originally told that the kit could be retro fitted and now I've since found out that the retro fitted fit kit is totally different.
Factory kit has a cradle and displays the phone system on the dash LCD.
The retro fit kit only acts as a bluetooth system and does not have a cradle, so is effectively useless!! i.e. long use results in flat battery on the phone and you still need to pick up the phone to dial numbers!
To say I'm unhappy is a understatement!!
Anyone else had problems with this?

Agree on the charging front, but you don't have to use the phone to dial or receive calls. The steering wheel controls function the same as the green and red buttons on the phone, and the calling number is displayed on both the radio LCD and the instrument panel display.
To dial a number, you just use the keypad on the radio unit, or one of the stored numbers in the vehicle system (which I think comes as part of the retro-fit kit).
You don't get the cradle and full intergration, so cannot control the phones address book or call register (as you can if you have the cradle installed). It would clearly not be impossible to install the full cradle, but the wiring is very "integrated".

The "original" retrofit PTI kit that existed before the factory PTI system shipped doesn't integrate with the instrument panel, radio LCD or radio keypad. It just adds the 2 steering wheel buttons and voice control.
There has been rumors of a "2.0" version of the kit that is more functional, but someone else will need to confirm.

.................and they want about £800 - £900 fitted. At that price I'd expect the phone to be able to dial numbers through mind reading.
