as long as they claim for expenses whilst on business I cant see the problem. I dont agree with expenses for second homes but normal business expenses is OK. I claim about £???? a month in train fares, meals, taxis, hotels, Fuel etc.Duncan

It's the fact they claim expenses which should be taxable to any other person. Cleaning your pool is not a essential business expense (unless of course you run a swimming pool ).
The MP's always claim they get paid badly, but with all the benefits they get paid too well for the amount many of them do. Some don't even bother turning up for weeks on end.
Surely second homes could be removed entirely if they built a MP hall of residence near the houses of Parliament. It would save a fortune and stop this nonsense of buying and selling houses after loads of refurbishment and also would cut down travel, so they would be environmentally better off.
You could have whoever is in goverment on the higher floors with the best views and the green party would be in the basement of course

It would also be the perfect target for terrorists to attack and murder all our politicians
Actually..............................is that such a bad thing with the current batch of MP's (MP = Must Profit ). We could start again with the Disco3 / 4 party and have the UK Prius club in opposition I believe that every human has a finite number of heart-beats. I don't intend to waste any of mine running around doing exercises.

The point is, she might not be worth the 92k salary, but she pays income tax at 40% on it. I claim lots of expenses, but I am strictly controlled by the Inland Revenue as to what is a valid expense.
