Hi,
I have found a lot of places offering tuning options to up the power/torque of the diesel
but the model that could do with it most is obviously the 4.0. I can't find anywhere that
can up the power of this - does anyone know if there is a standard way of doing this?
thanks

I have searched high and low for anything to do with the 4.0 V6 in Perth. I couldnt even find so much as an exhaust shop who could source a bolt on system that was made especially for the 4.0 to improve it so i guess everything you did would have to be along the 'custom' specality lines that some performance shops are able to help with........keep in mind you would be laughed out of many of these shops
Cheers

I would have thought any "chipping" place could do the tuning mod you're looking for. The 4.0V6 has been around for a while in the Explorer so the mods must also be about...
I guess the market just isn't there for it, but do you really need the extra power? Are you running PULP?
What's the point.... it all comes out in the wash anyway!

No I don't really *need* the extra power who does though? The 4.0 is powerful enough for pretty much any means so why buy the V8? I guess that's the answer, it not because I need it, but because I can. Or in this case can't

On a slightly unrelated note, is the V6 a popular option in AU? Just curious.

ONLY because LR Aus refuse to import the 4.4 V8 as anything other than a HSE .
They don't seem to understand than they'd sell a sh*t load more D3s if they
did as the USA importer and bring in a SE V8 for 80k.
The sales tax system here increases from 13% to 47% per dollar on vehicles over
Aus $57000. So, the V6 SE is 68k and the V8 HSE is 98K. Consequently
few folk are going to be ripped off for 30k for an engine and some accessories.
Having said that, the 5.0V8 with 48% more torque and 78% more bhp than the 4.0 ,
is a "temptation too great" ( ... as H Poirot would have said ).
........... Nara Bronze or Alaska White ..... uummmm ?

Hello, I have the 4.0 V6 and have also been looking for performance upgrades for it. I have found a supercharger kit that was designed for the Explorer, but with minimal alterations would fit the D3. The power goes from a quoted 154 for the Explorer up to 245KW and the torque goes up to nearly 600Nm. Not bad for a bolt on system. The only drawback is the price, 10 thousand dollars, (ouch). Hope this helps ARB winch bullbar,Kaymar rear carrier refitted properly the second time, jerry can holder and spare wheel holder, roof rails, side steps and door mouldings.Rear cargo barrier,Mitchell brothers tow bar, optima dual battery system.

Price doesn't look too bad, although it's a US site, could possibly get the parts sent over...

Seems very Hiclone'ish to me. If someone were stupid enough to order that air filter/fan thing then they deserve to be ripped off IMHO.
