Nice and simple mod
Wife's at work and I have taken the afternoon off, so with time on my hands and 20C outside, a tad warmer then when I did the day light running lights , I decided to have a look at one of my pet hates and that was the lack of lighting in the rear boot space
I have a 7-seater model so I don't know if the 5-seater has the same but on the 7-seater there are reading lamps in the roof for those who sit in the back, these are operated by a simple off-on switch. But these are not used when you open/unlock the doors all you get is that stupid 'ever so small light' located in the roof at the back. So with time on my hands I decided to see if I could wire them up to that 'ever so small light' so they would come on when it does, anyway it took me about 15 mins to work it out and then about another 15 mins to sort it out and get it working.
I now get the usage of those reading lights and the ever so small light in the back, to light up the back when it gets dark.
For those who would like to do the same, that is if you already haven't, here's how you do it.
Firstly remove the plastic cover situated in the tail of the roof, yes the same one that houses that 'ever so small light', this just pulls off. Once off pry the reading lights out of their holdings in the roof. You will see two wires, one black and one green/white. Run a wire from the rear to the front side direction (I always use a wire coat hanger), once you have the wire in place solder it (after the switch, otherwise it won't work) to the black wire terminal, do the same for both sides.
Once both wires are in place they now need to meet at that famous 'ever so small light', connect your two new wires to the black one and that's it. Replace the lights, replace the plastic cover and your finished. Stadt Panzer Power

Sounds great, might have a look over the weekend.
Just a quick question, is it affected it you have the boot open (hence lights on) and then what happens (IF) someone switched the reading light switch on? Is it then sending power to the small light too?Bodsys Brake Bible
If it does, a simple diode in the line will stop that happening I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.
ps. Was I the only one to read the title and think of DG? I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

Sounds so simple, but isn't working correctly....
What do I do wrong.
Cable from the standard boot-light to the both reading ligth's...so far so good.
Connected them after the swithc, ie. even at the bulb.
Did light up with the booth open, still could use the swith....but then, after I putt it all back together....problems
When closing the car, all lights out.
When opening the car, ALL lights on.....
So..Me happy ...
When starting the car....all lights go out.....except the two reading lights
So the standard bootlight is out (normally he gives power to the reading lights) and still they are lid....????
And also tried if I didn't by accident turned the switches, but no luck.
So for now, cabling is in place but not working
As per info...see pic...I have connected the black wire to the pin above the bulb on the pic, thats the black-wire-pin.

What the Where do the get current...???? The boot-light is out....hellowww...
