The UK DOH's documentation say that a pandemic could affect as many as 50% of the population and that 20-25% of those patients may require critical care (stay with me).
So if there are 3,496 Adult critical care beds in England, and we know that they are running at over 95% occupancy during a normal period, how are we prepared. Or do they just mean that we have some masks and hand gel on order.
The World Health Organisation says that Intensive care beds would be required at 110 per 100,000 population. I'll let you do the maths. We also have less Intensive care beds "v" population that practically anywhere else in europe or the USA.
Now I'm not being a drama queen, I am more upset by the fact that the government spin is that we are well prepared "To finish first, one first has to finish ...."

Well as far as I can read it says that 20-25% might be the clinical attack rate ...it doesn't say that that percentage will require critical care ....however you also fail to mention that nearly 40,000 beds can be made availabe within a 5 -10 day period for more advanced cases .......and you fail to mention that there is a stockpile of 33 million vaccines which will adequately take care of the majority of symptoms.
WHO and Gov both say attack rate could be 50% population and that 20-25% would require critical care. 40,000 beds are no use without nurses, monitors and life support machines. of which there are roughly 3,500 of which 95% are in use at any given time
(I've been reading and working on the numbers all day at work)
That's why you hear about patients being transfered from Liverpool to London etc.
Vaccines will rise to 50 Million within the next six months too."To finish first, one first has to finish ...."

You just want to sell some more of your bleeding machines eh
Well the thought did cross my mind - but my initial point is still the same - how can they say we are well prepared when their own facts and figures strongly suggest the opposite ?"To finish first, one first has to finish ...."

No they wont as 30% of the population will be dead.
TBH I think its very suspicious that there is a global economy failure and oh my there is now a pandemic that is going to wipe out 30% of the population er HELLO. Going to start a grave digging company up me thinks In the Beginning there was nothing, which exploded.
And hardly anyone is talking about global economy this week
Hmmm, hot summer = hard ground for grave diggers"To finish first, one first has to finish ...."

You know that the levels of 'critical care' will not materialise in the way you describe ...every year 10 -12 thousand die of flu already.... that's a bit critical ....and more than 3500 critical beds. The truth is they have adequate contingencies. If they didn't I'm sure the Daily Mail would have reported it weeks ago
Then again ..I guess it might be about time we trimmed Earth's herd ...we could do with losing the odd billion
