Help----------Rear pads / which way round ???

Sounds like a stupid one but the rear pads have a chamfer on one side, does this go up or down ??

Chamfers at the bottom, ie, the leading edge of the pads, as the disc rotates fwds.

Did you fit a new sensor or refit the old one?

I think Ian you may need a dealer visit, or TFC visit to cancel the warning light...................even when you fit a new wear sensor, may be wrong but pretty sure sir Thumbs Up

Front pads changed tonight and new sensor fitted, the warning light has gone out now and everything seems ok except that the brake pedal keeps sinking down (slowly) even though I have pumped it after pushing back the pistons on the calipers.
Haven't driven it yet but does this sound normal Question Question

United Kingdom 2005 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE Manual Zambezi SilverDiscovery 3

Did mine on Sunday last Ian

I used OEM pads on the front and non OEM pads (Mintex) on the rear . I had read the write-ups about the rear pads being directional i.e. fit chamfer facing down but there was absolutely no chamfer on the Mintex pads. The faces and edges were identical which ever way you looked at them.

I had to syringe out some brake fluid from the reservoir after I had replaced one axle set.

My pedal sank down a little after the initial 6 or 7 pumps but after the engine had been running for a while and I had tested the brakes a few times along a quiet nearby road the sinking disappeared. I drove to Ringwood (110 miles) after doing the pad change and the brakes didn't seem as positive as they had been prior to the change. They seemed to become more positive on the return journey but I guess new pads take quite a while to bed/wear in.

The more technically minded on here will no doubt provide a better explanation of the bedding in process (hopefully) Thumbs Up
