Compressor Cleaning - quick question |
|
I'm in the middle of cleaning the compressor etc.
Is it okay to (very) gently spray water over it to clear out all the clinging mud, crud etc...? Or is that asking for trouble as there are some cables/connectors there..?
Thanks. The next American ex-pat that calls it a "truck" is going to find out what 2.7 tons feels like on their foot...

I think you will be absolutely fine, in an off road situatiuon, it has to be able to withstand total submersion for extended periods, so a quick spray with clean water should be ok.

Cheers Gareth...
That was my assumption...but seeing as height sensors seem to be adverse to water (plus a few other bits and pieces) I thought i would get some wisdom from here...(i.e. to see if anyone had done this and ended up with wiring... ) The next American ex-pat that calls it a "truck" is going to find out what 2.7 tons feels like on their foot...

Hi JFLux, Ive sprayed mine many a time with a hose pipe
Ive drilled a 25mm hole in the bottom of the plastic cover so the mud can drain out and i can get a hope pipe in
I wouldnt use a pressure washer though. Duncan

Well I sprayed it with water from the hose...I'll still need to clean it out again next weekend I think.
It seems the problem is that the foam in the housing stays wet. All the cr@p in there was still very wet and slimy...
I believe some people have removed their foam. Is that a problem (as I'm assuming it's there for a reason...?) The next American ex-pat that calls it a "truck" is going to find out what 2.7 tons feels like on their foot...
