Voice controlled features........how do they work! |
|
I'm not stoopid and have read the manual.
I can get it to tell me the help available but it refuses point blank to listen to any other controls.........even if i take the examples from the manual
Has my car started ignoring me like my son does?
anyone able to help?

I can't get the Notepad function to work, but I do use some of the other commands. Mostly I use 'Navigation Home', but you need to set the 'home' location first in the Satnav. I also use the phone commands, but all that frequently.
Try the Navigation Home. If Nav Help works, Home should too.

I don't have the sat nav so not an expert but I think other people who have had problems have been told to check / change the voice that talks to you.
May be worth doing some searching through old threads, I am sure also someone will be along shortly who does know more about the sat nav set up. Zermatt silver 06 reg.

Do you have the Premium navigation, or just the standard navigation that came as a part of the vehicle specification? Also, do you have the factory fit telephone system?

Its the standard unit ..... I guess you will now tell me that the voice command only works with the premium pack!
I also have the LR phone fitted and that works fine, now that I have added some numbers! (spent ages trying to get it to recognise my nokia voice tags!!!!)
feel free to call me a muppet for not realising that my unit doesnt have navigation voice commands!

OK, you asked for it.....muppet!
Seriously though, the voice control button on the steering wheel that you have is to control the telephone module; standard navigation does not include voice control. Extra confusion arises as some of the other system voice help commands are actually stored on the TM, but won't actually operate the relevant systems.
Sorry to disappoint you.

There's a little LandRover elf who lives in a secret compartment behind the glovebox. When you make a voice command, he responds.
If your voice activation is not working it's because a) he doesn't understand your accent or b) he's asleep
If you have an imported vehicle, you will find that the voice activation won't work until you upgrade to a bilingual elf (approx £250 dealer-fitted) 2005 Disco 3 TDV6 7 seater. Leather, DVD, fully colour-coded.

Whilst it might be physically possible to "upgrade" your system, it would be prohibitively expensive I suspect, and not something that a Land Rover dealer would either be willing to undertake, or even know how to!
Essentially, the premium navigation (which includes TMC, Voice Control and 4x4 info) is only available as an option at the time of build - not as a retrofit.
