Towing electrics diagram ? |
|
Does anyone have a diagram for the 12N and 12S electrics ? - I fitted mine yesterday (thanks TLO ), and all works as it should, but I'd like to know what circuits the extra fuses protect.
Also, whilst installing the wiring, I found a 'spare' two-way connector hanging in the left hand side boot 'space' (where the rear A/C gubbins etc is) - the connector looks very much like a permanant 12v supply (one black wire, and one green/purple), I ran out of time otherwise I'd have put a meter across it...........does anyone know what this is for ?, I've got a 12v socket in the boot (left side, just inside the tailgate), but have not yet checked to see if it works.
Thanks,
Jim Jim

That's a start, and most useful - does anyone have the fuse designations too please ?

Just read the writing on the wiring diagram -
"Note that the 12N and 12S ground wiring must not be connected together and must be connected to the towing vehicle separately via the associated connector"
The LR loom I've just fitted has three whites all going to one earth stud, is this correct ? - I'm assuming that the quote above about 12N and 12S grounds means that you need to run grounds all the way to the chassis earth point, and not link them at the 12N/12S sockets and run one earth to the chassis..........? I just wired the earths into a single point behind the rear light cluster which is what I think the destructions stated...all three whites to a single point. Certainly worked OK since fittedand don't think you need to run earth down to chassis.
Not sure about fuse designations but would be useful to know.
Just remember to make sure the wiring loom is tucked up well away from the dog's dangly bits underneath so that it doesn't chaff. .....reminds me I'd better take the dog out now.

Yeah - those dangly bits.........what a PITA to route the cable loom over, need to take another look at mine in daylight (was getting dark when I was finishing off the install yesterday), and make sure nothings chafing !!!
I've followed the destructions and wired all 3 whites (earths) to a spare earth 'stud' behind the N/S/R light cluster - worked ok on a light board, don't have a 'van to check out the 12S.
Just been out with our 2 dogs - English Springers, totally attracted to mud !! Jim
