Seeing as some get upset by criticism of an ironic iconic vehicle, for everything you buy a landrover for, in standard form would you buy a Defender or a Discovery 3?

Got both. If I want to lug stuff around fields, pull trees out of the line in forests, carry a tonne of well rotted horse cack.... and don't care about scratches, smell etc, it's 'fender every time.
On the other hand, if I want something that does most things well and does distances over 15 miles then it's D3 every time. An example might be driving from Dorset to Sussex and back. My head/back/everything hurts after a week in the 90
Struggling to find a slot that the Freelander fits into I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

I know they're not as tall as the Defender but
Oh
Right, yes, anyway..... Seriously, Freebie is a nice drive, but the boot is tiny and as my daughter (9) put it: "I can't see us going skiing with this, can you daddy?"

TBH, as a second car the FL2 ticks all the boxes - especially when it gets air suspension and 7 seats next year especially if it got air suspension and 7 seats next year, for me, it'd need a transfer box and more boot space, otherwise it's a cracking piece of kit!

For me, it depends on how far i am
going to travel to get to a dealer when im away.
In June last year i had to do a 1400km round trip to get to
a dealer. I was lucky i wasnt in the Kimberley ranges or
the Simpson Desert when the problem happened
at least i can fix a defender myself.
The D3 is a great town car and an awesome 4X4.......but Pete

Boot (or lack of) is a serious no-no on the Freelander for me. Smaller than the boot in my old 156 Will be interesting to see how they repackage it as a 7-seater. If they go down the Mitsbubishi Outlander route of putting a milk crate in the boot and calling it a seat I'll be making the effort to post on FL2. The posts will consist of
If on the other hand they manage to find an extra 20 cu.ft. of space in the rear of the car and keep the handling?
But I'll still be nagging Mrs D to change the 90 for a 110 I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

what couldn't be fixed or ignored? - not taking the pizz, serious question, maybe I've been luckier but I've transited through some pretty arduous terrain and not had any issues for 000's of Km's with nothing more than spare air & fuel filters, FEAD belt, top-up oil, cetane booster and airline splices - oh, and an Autologic diagnostic system 8)

The new Defender seem to be a POS
It's like they got children to assemble it. And LR don't understand why companies choose Landcruisers over Defenders these days......

I didn't think they fitted cruise control to Defender's I believe that every human has a finite number of heart-beats. I don't intend to waste any of mine running around doing exercises.

There is no both option so I cant vote. In the Beginning there was nothing, which exploded.
