Intermittent squealing electronic parking brake |
|
Have 2005 Discovery 3. Out of warranty and jeep's brakes have started to squeal intermittently when EPB is applied. It does not do this all the time. Where should I go first? Not sure about going to dealer as they may recommend most expensive course of action. Have also noticed that fuel economy has decreased in last 6 months. Used to average about 28mpg but now only getting 24mpg. Any advice? Manual model. Based in Tipperary, Ireland.

You might have to go to a Jeep forum for that part.

Sorry for the first reaction but you're not driving a .
The EPB might need to be serviced or cleaned. If you do a search you find some post that explain you how to do it.
Fuel consumption, probably you get used to the D3 and are using the throttle a little more. Or are your reardrums hot after a drive?
Remember your not driving a Roel

Had the same, eventually it got stuck on, local dealer did under warranty.
Just needs cleaning/adjusting, instructions are here on the forum if you are handy and don't want to spend to have it done.

I think the EPB heard you calling it a J@@p!
As they all said it may need a clean or adjusting - or even a new part...
Gentlemen - and Mods - is it worth a precis document/thread of all the forum knowledge? If you do a Search on EPB there's a week's work sorting through it!!!

Spot on Andy!
How about under 'Faults & Fixes' could have, for example, 'Fixes' which could then show seperate summaries (a Wickipedia style update format would work well!) for different problems .... EPB, ERG Blanking, Trim Removal, Always on 12v connection, Running Cables, Hard Reboot, Wiper blade replacement, Aftermarket bits & pieces, etc etc ....
Would be a great resource 'S' TDV6, Air suspension, Terrain Response, Active rear diff, Safari Snorkel, Opposite Lock rear wheel carrier, OL drawer system, Cargo Barrier, Dual batteries with Rotronics isolator, GME 3440 UHF. Codan NGT HF, Asus UMPC running TrackRanger. Cooper LT245/70R17 STTs when off-road. Tow Ultimate off-road camper.

You learn something new every day!!!!!!!
I spy the little 'Wiki' just under the BIG 'DISCO3.CO.UK'
AndrewW perhaps discovering our lack of knowledge of the 'Knowledge' will make others aware and spur it on to greater heights.
