I have just joined disco3.co.uk. I have a query about the Land Rover Discovery 3 sales promotion on at the moment. I have made two serious offers at two different dealers asking price (£31,700 for a basic SE and £34,000 for an SE with metallic paint, rear differential lock, tow pack, privacy glass, spare wheel, and sat nav upgrade). The dealers seem to be unable to supply vehicles at the price they are asking. I don't really understand how the sales promotion is supposed to work when the dealers can't supply vehicles at their own asking price.
I have been in discussion with four different dealers. Am I being unrealistic at the prices that I have offered to pay ?
After this fruitless experience, I may now investigate alternative vehicles. It would be a pity, because I do like the look and specification of the Discovery.
If you consider the promotion to be a mechanism by which overstocks are sold through, then the lack of suitable vehicles near the end of the promotion can be understood. April is getting closer and there is a rumoured price rise; try ringing a few of the "favoured" dealerships - Yeovil and Lakeland spring to mind.Time flies like an arrow; fruit flies like a banana

Some people have bought HSE spec cars new for £33K, so I don't think it is unrealistic. Best bet is to speak to Kiern at Yeovil Land Rover, he is an honest chap.

try dropping the "rear locking diff" - there's not many of these around
the promotion will only be on cars already builtSteve N | 21MY Defender | 08MY Discovery 3 (history) | 06MY Discovery 3 (ancient history)

According to my local dealer, (whom I have just bought a sh D3) there is a drought of new and nearly new D3's. The promotion has sold virtually all the cars it was designed to. There was not a lot on his car locator system when we were looking at the options last week. I had to drop the spec and compromise on colour to get a car at the right price/mileage.

My local dealer was saying the same a couple of weeks ago. Mind you much of the stock was 8.5MY, let alone 09MY. Personally I'm waiting for the 10MY (on a 55 plate now) as the move to a 3.0TDV6 interests me. I'd prefer to pay £4k more for one of them.2014MY Discovery
