Motorpoint Cyprus Imports |
|
Hi all,
Been looking on here for a while now, finally decided to join in!
We're very interested in buying a Discovery 3 after test driving one at our local dealer, and after test driving a nissan pathfinder today! However I have been looking on motorpoint, and following a phone conversation with them established that the car is an import from Cyprus. I know Motorpoint has been mentioned in previous posts, but they appeared to be about spanish imports. I was just wondering if anyone had (or knows anything about them) a Cyprus Import HSE, or SE, and if so was anything missing from it, or is it UK spec?
Thanks

I seem to remember that another member mentioned that motorpoint are same spec but £5000 cheaper, but don't quote me on that!
Where did you test drive, Lakeland Landrover or Kentdale?

Yeah, that was said, but i wasnt sure about the ones from Cyprus. If they are the same spec its a good saving.
Lakeland Land Rover, slightly closer, and nicer drive to Torver!
Had it on test drive for 5 hours, very impressed with it. Turned a lot of heads too. Slightly unsure about the Rimini red though!

If the vehicles are for Cyprus, I bet they don't have any cold weather equipment.
Heated seats, washers, Webasto et.
You might also want to see who's supplying the warranty Discovery TDV6 S Silver
BMW Z3 Blue
MGB GT Red
Aston DB6 Blue
When it's good it's very good, but when it's broken I want my money back.

I have dealt with Lakeland for 7 years now, having three vehicles from them. That aside I very nearly purchased a Disco3 from Kentdale until Lakeland stepped in with a price I personally was very happy with, and in the end it turned out to be the same car!!!!
Here's a hint..
Lakeland and Kentdale are one!!!
BTW we live around 11 miles from Torver!

yeah, both owned by the Hadwins i believe.
The warranty through Motorpoint is through Land Rover, and as the car was bought by them in Oct 2005, has the remainder of the 3 year warranty left.

Motorpoint have been getting it tight lately, with manufacturers not honouring vehicles being imported by them. I know of two people who have had nothing but hassle and paying out money for repairs.
The key point is that you must import the vehicle, using motorpoint, not them import it for you then sell it to you....make sense??!! That way it is seen as a Personal European import and warranty work is honoured.
I wouldn't be too worried if it was a Jap car as nothing really goes wrong, but the small niggles of a D3 could make it a costly saving.

Makes buying a Disco from a UK source more appealing to me...

HI JS and welcome,
I looked and looked for local/national Land Rover franchises to do a good deal on a D3. In the end we used a company "De Stefano" Bromley Hill, Kent. They import a UK spec car (from Gibralter I believe) and had a std. European warrenty good at any UK dealers. The only hassle was that I had to chase up Land Rover UK to get them to recognise that the car was here as the original dealers out in Gibralter hadn't, and after that it was simple. We paid around £36 for a std SE in July last year. Seemed to ne helpful when we dealt with them!
Happy hunting

Ours was ex-demo, can't see the point of losing ££££'s as soon as you drive it off the forecourt.
Lakeland have a '54' reg HSE with only 1,400 miles on, from the factory.

A 54 reg with only 1400 miles sounds a bit fishy being a year old.
