Roof bars for long canoe
Hello all.
I have a set of thule bars for my LR3 which I bought to carry my 15'8" canoe however the canoe is hanging to for off the back. What i want is to put a bar at the front on the lower section of roof which would be at same height as the rear bar. I dont want to put on an expedition roof rack as it seems a bit extreme, does anyone know of any solutions to this problem. Also I am struggling to find a point at the front of the Discovery for tying off the canoe. Any help appreciated

Can you point us in the direction of a picture of the type of canoe, as it will affect what options there are!
You can use the front recoverry eye to tie off to, which is behind the removable panel underneath the front number plate I believe that every human has a finite number of heart-beats. I don't intend to waste any of mine running around doing exercises.

wils, have you got a Aqua carrier. Fits onto the crossbars and forms an adjustable "V" shape holding the noo in place. I have one, although not fitted to my expo as I broke my foot last summer and never used it, however will be this year.
The Aqua carrier comes with 2 adjustable V's, slings and paddle securer. All for about £80.
Pm Nick, aka "the large one", he will sort you out

I have the thule canoe carrier 579 pack on the thule bars but because of the length of the canoe i need to use the full length of the roof. The extended roof rails are exactly what I need, I will check with my stealer to see if they are available. As im using the thule bars the feet are adjustable in width so if the rails are slightly wider at the fromt it shouldnt be a problem. Thanks for the info from everyone, much appreciated.

The other option is to use the Rhino rack short track designed for the front lower mountings.
Look at the bottom of page 28 of their brochure, this shows the short rails on a D3
