Advice on List of basic checks to do on receipt of new D3

I will be taking delivery of my D3 on Friday from Marshall's in Peterborough. Very Happy I am planing into Stansted, Training up to Peterborough, taxiing to Marshall's and then driving back to The Hague via the Chunnel. I would love to have a list of basic checks to carry out when I arrive at Marshall's as this is my first Disco and I do not want drive it away with an undiscovered issue that I could have found with a basic looksee!

Any advise gratefully received, if there is a topic on this already a link would be good, my search did not throw up anything obvious, unfortunately.

paint work

wheel nut lock key

but more importantly get them to show you how to use the sat nav and key in your destination and how to resume if you stop. Nothing worse than sitting in a lay by trying to work it out

Tour of engine bay - fluid levels - all lamps working - tires at pressure

Tour of the electricals and computer/nav/radio/cd

Check operation of ride height adjust - and test the terrain response on their 'off-road course'

CHECK THE A/C ACTUALLY BLOWS COLD! Whistle

Check both keys work for lock/unlock

Visual inspection of the paint/glass/plastic parts

Quick spin round the block to check for steering alignment, road noise, steering wobble, braking, smooth shifting.

THEN LOOK OUT FOR THE SPEED CAMERAS ON THE A1 GOING BACK DOWN SOUTH!

If used:
As above and:
Damaged rims,
Brake disc tickness (if used off-road traction controll eats brake discs)
Rear and front window heaters
Try to get upto date Nav disc
Look for oil leaks,
test the parking break for noices.
Look for noices off the suspension compressor (left side in front off the rear wheel) You should just hear it not noisy.
If bluetooth fitted, test your phone with it.

in short: test everything yourselves and show them everything you think isn't right.

Try to drive another D3 before you pick up yours so you have a feeling how it drives.

Hi All,

thanks for the input, my list is growing and I will be prepared.

Tom, Thanks for the advice on calling Marshalls for Pick Up, I sent them an email and they are picking up the tab for my train and a taxi to them!

I am amazed at the number of speed cameras there are on my route home, how do you manage to drive anywhere in the UK tithout getting busted!

Last time I was in the UK - I pre-loaded a Garmin Nuvi GPS with all the speed cameras, so I got a visual and audio warning before each one.

Otherwise you could loose your license in just one trip!

Less than 24 hours until stepping aboard my new motor, lol,, can hardly contain myself. Still haven't seen a Galway Green anywhere, whcch is good Smile LHD, Interior is Colour: Almond / Grand Blk Lacquer, the LHD HSE spec is different here on the continent so the FF Options are:

Active Rear Diff 027CC
Privacy Glass 047AB
Roof Rails 060AD
Electric Sun Roof 019AG
Adaptive Xenons Lights 064DI
Full Size Spare 029IR
Climate Control Rear 022AZ
Centre Console Cooler Box 045AC
Elec Adjust Steering Column 049AL
Heated Steering Wheel 032BY
HK Logic 7 Audio System 025GQ

and DF Options:

DVD Rear Entertainment System 129AD
Alarm Volumetric 076DM
Prem Leather Pack 033HJ
Tow Pack 028BT

No steps, SWMBO may have input on that later, but she is fit and spry so probably not!

Abusing all the proveledges I have, I get to take it home for some 33K of squids, which is getting to be less and less Euros every day!

First impressions to be found here sometime tomorrow evening I should think!
Took delivery 20 March, first 1000km completed, I love this vehicle!

It's mine all mine!

A few photos posted here: http://www.disco3.co.uk/gallery/thumbnails.php?album=2841

More to follow as I make my way back to the Hague.

Pick up from Marshall's in Peterborough went smoothly, one miscommunication dealt with effectively by Marshalls, SWMO very happy with the ride, the entertainment system, the view, and just about everything else a non driver is interested in.

Me, I discovered the answer to the question, do Disco3 drivers acknowledge each other on the road, lol. and I also discovered what the references to permagrin on the site are all about.

Safe at home now, first 870km on the clock. I went to Swindon from Peterborough, a couple of journey's in town there and then on SUnday I drove back to the Hague via the Chunnel. Fuel consumption over the first 3 days was 30.4 MPG (9.3l/100km) with the bulk of the trip on Motorway at around 75MPH (120kph). D3 felt good all the way, everything was as it should be, and I am happy as a PIS.
