TAILGATE WOES

Hello all,

Perhaps someone can help.

Tailgate failure yesterday, totally shut, car used daily for working, parcels, dogs, people etc, phoned LRA (yes I was stupid enough to shell out £1000 for a worthless piece of paper) and they wont come out.

They said phone the stealer - hahahahahaha - sorry - and they cant fit me in until 20th Feb.

I have read some of the threads and tried some tricks.

My next trick is to buy a BMW - I love my D3 but its becoming beyond a joke now.
Confused

Im losing the faith people.

Can anyone help?

Prepare to scrape your hands a bitl, but you will save your self £300 - its a common fault I can talk you through it if you PM me your phone number, however, I think the instructions should see you through it

I was afraid of that DND3.

They wouldnt shell out for EPB screamer or ball joints. They say wear and tear, I say proven fault.

There in the Censored financially and weve all been conned.

Im stuck with my D3 now because I cant afford owt else at the minute, but one things for sure Im not falling for the warranty trick this year!

Q7 next time methinks, or maybe a toerag. Something that wa built right first time.

Problem is me and SWMBO love the bloody old wreck!!!!

It is not wear and tear on the part you are talking about - IMHO its a bloody design fault, however, that apart opening and closing a door would never be wear and tear

Couldnt agree more Duncster, the list of wear and tear 'faults' is becoming embarrasing.

They just dont give a Censored about old customers, its very short sighted and will bite them on the rear very soon.

I live not ten miles from the plant and if it shuts this place is a ghost town - overnight!!

Its my first Landy, and I was aware it wasnt going to be like a German car ie reliable, thats why I bought the warranty, but to renage on that very expensive deal is the last straw im afraid.
There just doesnt seem to be any comeback once youve paid for it, should have gone monthly then at least I could have cancelled the remainder of payments.

YOurs very dis heartened!

I have the solution.

I just modified my rear door a little so the actuator is on the inside off the door. So if the electronics decide to work the upper tailgate opens. If not I just hang over the rear seats and pull the wire.

Sorry for the poor quality it is dark early in Austria.

Great stuff - love the photo!!

However it may be time for my nap................. LRA have agreed to the repair UNDER WARRANTY!!!! Thumbs Up

Cue much fainting!

Might try and get the park brake screamer (3rd time) through as well - what do you reckon?

More snow here in Coventry this morning - I have heat marks on the car at the green stares of all those plebs in their little city cars, hahahaha.

O great my medication is here...... ahhh

funnily enough they just changed the lock on our tailgate at the 2 year service this week... seems to be a common fault to me!

My problem is not so common as all parts are replaced and still it works a while and then suddenly it doesn't for a while. Then the noise is there and also the actuator moves a little but not far enough also not without the cable attached. so it is something electric/electronic but what.
When it happens again I will disconnect my tow hitch electrics maybe that helps. It was installed after some parts were replaced.

Mine was replaced also, on the 2 year service - it was working perfectly but the dealer (who I have a very good rapport with) said it is a common fault. So they replaced it just to be sure. Nice heh...!
