Service History and Warranty - does the service date matter |
|
This question is not unrelated to my last post regarding recent purchase, an issue i have is that the D3 i purchased yesterday was new in october 2007 but only serviced in Jan 2008 due to low mileage but late in terms of date.
dealer has said there will be no issue with this and warranty claims will be covered, he however told me that the vehicle was owned by Landrover for the last twelve months which when the V5arrived today it was n't.
seriously considering a drive back to coniston tomorrow......
any advice greatly appreciated...

I would definitely want the guarantee regarding Warranty to be in writing, not to mistrust your dealer but to minimise any wriggle factor they may try and exercise if you have any problems, and to look after your own interests.
The other issue you will need to discuss with them and agree what course of action you want to take. If it is an approved used you still have the option of returning it for full refund if not happy i believe!

If it's Lakeland Land Rover, I've read so many good things about them on this site that I'd be inclined to give them the benefit of any doubt and follow up in private, by telephone, and set out your concerns calmly.
New October 2007, service January 2008? Are we talking about the first inspection about a month or so after delivery? Hardly seems like a warranty-busting delay?

Maybe just a quick phone call and ask them to confirm in writing that warranty is fully valid despite later(in calender months) service. Maybe even ask that they get Land Rover to confirm this with you since, if I understand correctly, the warranty cover is a contract with Land Rover and not the supplying dealer. I'm sure Lakelands excellent reputation and customer friendly service will solve any probs.
