Some Warranty Advice Needed Please! |
|
Ruby is due her first MOT tomorrow and the LR Warrantee expires on the 2oth Jan. I have a few issues below and was hoping some off you could give any advice on these faults before I delivery her to the Stealers tomorrow:
1) When first parked up she vents air like an HGV air brakes, is this normal?? She also drops a little when doing this. Doesn't lose height overnight or weekend though.
2) Transmission judders when accelerating uphill on part throttle from low speed, feels like you are driving over rumble strips. A few posts on here suggest a fluid and filter change should cure this??
3) Farting, groaning noise coming from passenger footwell. SWMBO denies it is her so would this be the heater flaps??
4) Washer jets…Dealer says they are not heated, with climate pack fitted I say they are and should defrost on a cold morning, any advice please??
5) Annoying squeak when driving on motorway about 60-70mph. Seems to come from drivers side, cannot seem to locate it, tried all usual culprits, trim, visor, windows etc.
6) Drivers door seal is perished and falling apart, is this a warrantee item??
Mileage on Ruby is 78K and she is a TDV6 Auto MY2006
Thanks Mike

1) normal - air suspension adjusting itself
2) ??
3) Farting Dash. there is a TSB for this but requires a lot of dash to be taekn out so you might en up with more squeeks
Quote:LTB00103 VIN-range: 000256-450440
A squeak/squeal noise is heard a few seconds after pressing the recirculation button on the control panel, it can also be heard when the recirculation feature operates automatically.
Cause: Due to dust contamination of the lubricating grease, the noise is generated by the movement between the two resin linkages, between the recirculation blend door actuator and motor. Suggested Customer Concern Code - C20.
NOTE: In normal circumstances a modified actuator rod (JEH 500020 and JEH 500010) will need to be installed. Should the need arise to replace the recirculation blend door actuator (JNC 500050 and JNC 500040) then the new actuator rod will already be installed, and must only be fitted if a new recirculation blend door actuator is required
4) are there wires going to the jet and is there a fuse in the fuse box ?
5) ??
6) Yes, had both my front seals replaced under warranty. Duncan

Anyone point me to the TSB for the farting/groaning dash, my HVAC system has done this ever since the dealer put a cleaning/deodorising agent through it 2020 BMW X1 18d XDrive X-Line Auto

thats what I thought but it depends on whether the friction will break the rods. then its a dash out to fix and most likely after the warranty has expired. I may get my dealer to look at it just before warranty expires in July Duncan

6) door seals are about 12 quid each and 5 mins to fit if you can't get them done under warranty

All answers supplied so far are
I have got farting going on in the passenger footwell, and its just not worth the hassle trying to sort it. Its a good discussion point for passengers anyway
I have a perished door seal, and now I know they are only £12 I will be pm'ing TLO.
The transmission judder is also present on my vehicle. The jury is out on this, forum member 'Character' has volunteered to be guinea pig, and is having his transmission flushed soon. If it cures his judder, I will go down the same route as mine is pretty bad when towing the caravan. Mine is now on 116k miles, and Characters is on 250k+ miles, so much higher than yours.

Stealers at their best yesterday...........
Zero success on any of the reported faults, best they could do was log them and rebook Ruby in. As they have no courtesy cars it wont be until February...........
No wiper blades in stock, no door seal and the washer jet ordered 4 weeks ago still not in. The Service Manager proudly announced they had done the MOT and it had passed. When I checked the MOT it had the wrong Reg number on it!! I had to then sit in the Stealers for 90mins while they took it back to the testing ststion to get it sorted.
Sign of things to come?? I hope not!!!
