Which towbar to have fitted to carry a bike rack? |
|
I'm about to buy a new D3 but need to be able to transport two mountain bikes. I don't want to put them on the roof but understand I can for a Thule EuroClassic G5 904 cycle rack to a suitable towbar.
Question is can I use a removable towbar, I really don't want to have a towbar visible when it's not in use and what electrics do I need fitted.
Would be very interested to hear your thoughts....

Follow the link, and hope this helps

I have the maxxraxx and have two different size arms that extend out where you hang the bikes.
Short fits two trek adult bikes and the longer I also put the kids on as well (4 in total).
Use on my detachable tow bar - great!

I also use my bike transporter on a removable tow bar. No problem there.
If you're going to use it a lot, I'd go for a tiltable one as mine *without* bikes on it, blocks the rear doors - even the top one... If you're sure you're never going to want to open the rear with bikes on, you don't need to worry about this. Otherwise, you're going to wind up taking the bikes off and on more than you like

Wiljo

You will need the towbar electrics as well to be legal.
I got mine from 'the Large One' and took me about an hour to fit. On a scale of difficulty 1 - 10 with 1 being easy I would say it is a 2
