There is a new software and firmware update available for my BAS interfaces, you dont need to have is if your BAS remap interface is already up and running but if we need to make changes or map update in the future you will have to use this new version software instead.
Most of you will have version 3.47 some 3.66 the new version is 3.72, it can be downloaded from the link in my signature.
Pete
PS The units are still on sale at the original offer price and are in stock pre programed with the new firmware.

Pete,
I had an interesting little scenario the other day....
I religeously carry the BAS Remap device in my car, in case there is a breakdown and the D3 has to be returned to LR for some work, I can then up load the standard map.
However, my wife had an issue with a flat battery, which turned out to be a faulty alternator that went on fire when the AA (on behalf of LRA) turned up to jump start/re-charge the battery! This meant there was no power to the vehicle at any time for the Missus to up load the standard map. The car went to LR, was fixed and no updates were flashed, so my BAS map is still in place (luckily) - well it drives like it is anyway!
So, my question is, if this sort of exceptional circumstance occurs and LR update with a flash rendering the BAS Remap unusable, what is one supposed to do?
Your advice gratefully received mate.

Kaiser,
Your BAS map (and a copy of your standard map) are always stored on the interface... Whatever LR do to your car, you will always be able to re-load either map by plugging it back in.
L/R only re-flash updates etc, the actual "map" remains the same (same as the standard map on the interface), so you're only re-overwriting the fuel map with Pete's, not the full ecu brain, updates an everything... anyway, that's how I understand it.
Hope that clarifies 57 RRS TDV8

Hmmmm perhaps not quite correct.

if your dealer reflashes your car to a newer version of mapping to repair a LR error or enhance a particular thing in the engine for some reason, then yes the tool is upgradable to this new maping ONLY IF you return the car to standard before the dealer updates it.
If the car is left in a performance state then the tool is locked to what would be the old software and this will cause problems.
bellautos wrote:IMPORTANT NOTE this is ONLY possible if you return the car back to standard before a dealer visit. If the dealer reflash your car with a update and you have not returned the car to standard the BAS interface tool can not be erased and reused.
but this may answer your question. best if Pete can confirm how much of a possibility it would be kaiser
bellautos wrote:The tool is locked to a "target engine ecu" when the tool knows your car is in tuned state, its locked to the target ecus data content.
If the target ecus data content is changed then the target no longer exists, so the tool now cant login and be used.
IF the dealer does overwrite your car and for some reason and you didnt return the car to standard there is a possibility i can unlock the tool again, BUT i would need the car and the tool in my workshop to do this.

I hear what you are both saying guys - thanks for the replies.
What I really need though, is a reply from Pete about how one should handle that exact situation - no power at all and therefore no way of uploading the standard map prior to the vehicle going to LR for work.....
Pete - you out there?
