Thought I would post a pic of the Hardware you receive, totally an amazing piece of kit and easy to use. Already swapped to tuned and back to standard. With this kit Pete also supplies a download for your PC.

EG if your dealer reflashes your car to a newer version of mapping to repair a LR error or enhance a particular thing in the engine for some reason, then yes the tool is upgradable to this new maping ONLY IF you return the car to standard before the dealer updates it.
If the car is left in a performance state then the tool is locked to what would be the old software and this will cause problems.
The main thing i wouls stress is that its important to return the car to standard before any dealer visits even if only for a bulb fitting to save any problems later.
The process only takes a few mins so prevention of a problem is better than a cure.
I have a minor concern... As one who has troubled LRA a couple of times, once when the car wasn't running, what is the risk of flashing the car with a remap and then it (for reasons unrelated to the remap) become non functional and being recovered without me being able to flash it back to standard?
Also, assume my current car's map is what we call std and then I had a remap. Car goes in for a service so I flash it back to std. Car comes back from dealer. How do I know if dealer has upgraded my map? Can I download what is in the car on its return (call it "std2") and compare this on my PC against std to make sure all is well?
Sorry for the noddy questions but just trying to work out an idiot's guide for when/if I take the plunge...
Am I right in thinking the process when the car goes in for a service is
a) Reflash to std
b) Car goes in and may or may not be upgraded
Do I now
i) reflash back to my original std then apply your remap
or
ii) save the new possibly upgraded "std2" and then reapply your remap over the top of this
or
iii) have to get a new remap based on "std2"
Would be so much easier to have this discussion in the pub!!

Hi the only way that it will not be able to be flahsed back t standard is if the engine ec totaly failed or the electrics totaly failed.
From the tests ive made i cant ever see why flashing back to standard would not be possibile.
The tool makes various identifications inside the car when programming, so if the dealer had flahed back to standard the tool should warn you of a problem and stop the process, which is when we reread he NEW standard file and id make you a new one for the new programming.
No problems re the questions, thats what im here for.
Yes if you take your car back to the dealers even for a bulb replacement you must return the car to standard.
when you get he car back, try re upload your tuning, if the tool procedes then the dealer have not touched your programming.
You or ayone can give me a call if you want 01904 703000

Ive been asked many times regarding my BAS remap interface if and when the dealer did a software update what would happen when i plug the tool back in to reinstall my BAS remap.
Well kindly from one of my customers he took me a picture, in this case a Defender 2.4TDCI.
He as advised returned his car back to standard before a dealer visit for some warranty work to be done.
He got his car back from the dealers warranty work complete and happy, when he tried to reprogram his BAS mapping/tuning back on the car he was faced with this screen.
This is the screen that will tell you when you attempt to reprogram your car if the dealer has actually updated your engine software.
And as you see the BAS tool states "Programming not possible"
This is where we erase the tool with the software i provided you and we make new files for your car using the new software from the car that the dealer programmed it with.
It a bit like starting again but at least you know you can keep getting the dealer updates and get a new tuning file when needed.
All in all in this case, the customer had the dealer update and a new map was provided free and now he still has his tuning with the latest software on
Pete
IMPORTANT NOTE this is ONLY possible if you return the car back to standard before a dealer visit. If the dealer reflash your car with a update and you have not returned the car to standard the BAS interface tool can not be erased and reused.

This is why I have my box in the rear cubby boxes whilst the D3 is in "ENJOY" mode. You just never know where or when you will need LRA or a dealership. But whatever happens, before they go anywhere near the D3 switch it back to standard
Still enjoying mine Pete

And there was me thinking I was the only one who had done this You have put your Bell remap box in exactly the same hiding place as mine for exactly the same reason. It's a cracking bit of kit it has to be said and I am getting addicted to the lazy low revs grunt it delivers.
