You can tap or hold mac
Quote:
1 Set + : Set or increase the speed.
2 Set - : Set or decrease the speed.
3 Resume: Resume set speed.
4 Cancel: Cancels without erasing
memorised speed.
Accelerate until your desired cruising speed is
reached. The speed must be above 30 km/h
(18 mph). Press button 1 to maintain that
speed.
A warning lamp on the instrument
pack illuminates when cruise
control is operating. The speed can
be increased by normal use of the accelerator
e.g. for overtaking. When the accelerator is
released, road speed will return to the
previously set cruising speed.
Note: If the accelerator pedal is pressed for
more than 60 seconds, cruise control will be
cancelled.
Suspending cruise control
Cruise control can be suspended temporarily
by a single press of button 4. The warning lamp
on the instrument pack turns off.
Cruise control is also suspended when the
brake or clutch pedal is pressed, when the gear
selector is moved into neutral, or if HDC or DSC
becomes active. To resume cruise control at
the previously set speed, press button 3.
Note: The set cruise speed will not be erased
by pressing button 4. The set speed will only be
erased when the starter switch is turned to
position 0 or the gear selector is moved to P or
R.
Reducing cruising speed
Press and hold button 2; the vehicle will
decelerate. Release the switch when the
desired speed is reached, which then becomes
the new cruising speed.
Tap the (-) button to decrease the cruising
speed step-by-step. Each tap will decrease the
speed by 2 km/h (1 mph).
Increasing cruising speed
Increase the vehicle's speed by normal use of
the accelerator. When the desired speed is
reached, press button 1 to reset the cruise
control.
Alternatively, press and hold button 1; the
vehicle will accelerate. Release the switch
when the desired speed is reached, which then
becomes the new cruising speed.
Tap the (+) button to increase the cruising
speed step-by-step. Each tap will increase the
speed by 2 km/h (1 mph).

There was a Clocksprig TSB for this BUT mine used to do this a LOT and when the dealer finally sorted it they replaced the entire left hand steering wheel switch panel and its been PERFECT ever since.Steve N | 21MY Defender | 08MY Discovery 3 (history) | 06MY Discovery 3 (ancient history)

My D3 drove me mad with this intermittant problem. After going in and out of the dealers several times the problem was eventually found to be a chaffed wire in the steering column. As SN said... it's been PERFECT since! As you slide down the banister of life

The dealer sould have fixed the "Rotary Coupler" there is a TSB on it and it is a safety issue as it also connect the drivers side airbag.“There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

had EXACTLY the same problem when I first got my disco. The tech at the dealer knew all about it and refitted the switch and wire. He said it was common for the wire to be pinched.
