My TomTom Navigator has very old maps and updates are a problem. However I want to keep the GPS Receiver for connection to Memory Map (off-road and mountain biking) but this Navigon looks very good for on the road. The Lane Assist would be very handy for me, as would the 'reality view' and speed information.
Has anyone used this before?2007 Porsche Boxster (987) 2.7

Hi Chris,
Had a close look at the Navigon units whilst at the Top Gear show in November. Spoke to the tech guy at some length about them.
The graphics are much better than the Tom Tom and look more professional (less Fisher-Price if you know what I mean).
The lane assist feature looked good showing the motorway lane signs above the road just as you would expect to see them through your windscreen.
It also shows you several manouvres in advance so that you know, in a city centre for example, that you might need to get into the right-hand lane immediately after turning left at a roundabout.

It turns out it's only £65 rather than £100 which I originally thought (I was looking at entire EU maps rather than GB).
I've downloaded a 28 day trial and I'm taking it out this afternoon for a tester 2007 Porsche Boxster (987) 2.7

It requires WiFi to load-up so it wasn't much good on the big roads today. I'm hoping that's only for the trial period though?
It was fine in town but not much different from my old TomTom. I'm trying to find out how new the maps are that come with the Navigon, that might be the clincher. Also a few features need played with, I couldn't get it to zoom in on '3D' mode and the text-to-speech (ie. reading out road names) must only apply to motorways etc. because it wasn't doing it in town. Neither did it tell me which lane to be in when on city roundabouts (that must be for big roads too...?).
I'll take it up north soon and test it then 2007 Porsche Boxster (987) 2.7
