Battery problems?

As I read somewhere here that battery problems will be a hot issue next month, I thought I will start it before. Laughing

My question: What are the first signs off a battery going bad?

I noticed that when is getting below 0 C and I start my D3 in the morning the Nan computer reboots and comes up with the Land Rover sign again and then the nav system will come up without problems.
If it's above 0 C or if I have driven before the nav system doesn't shut down. Before you ask Yes it will also shut down if it is in 4x4 information.

Is this normal or a sign off a fading battery?

I'd say that the fact that it is playing up under cold conditions is a bad sign . What voltage is the battery at after standing for at least 12 hrs . A good battery should be at at least 12.6 V

I get 11.5V on the vehicle signals menu behind the secret button. But then a lot off system are already pulling power so that isn't a good reading.

Hi Roel

Modern batterys can fail without any warning. One min they are good , next min unserviceable.

Even if you have 12.2v - 12.6v in the battery this doesnt mean its a good battery. This could just be surface charge so ideally you wanna get a battery test done to confirm.

If battery ok , then carry out a drain test on the vehicle electrics to make sure there is nothing discharging the battery. Thumbs Up

Regards

Matt
