LED lights - are they bright enough ? |
|
Just go some "very Bright" led's for the D3 to stick in the reversing lights only to find that they an't as bright as the 21w bulbs their replacing
Is it me or are people on fleabay miss selling ??? I mean, when they state that "it will be like a set of spots on the back of your vehicle" have I got it wrong thinking that they will be brighter than the OE one's
If I can't fine another use for them, I think I might ask for my money back! 90 Defender(Daughter driving at the mo)

When you see how many LEDs you need in a cluster to mimic a 5/21w brake lamp (designed to give a bright point of light, not spread the light like a reverse lampP, I'd struggle to see how even an array of cree LEDs will give the light spread needed to replace the reverse lamp I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

to be fair to them they also have this in the advertisment
"For best results the LED color should be the same as the lens color. As an example: a red lens will filter out all but the red portion of the light so if the light is all red, none or very little light will be blocked by the lens. The light from a White LED contains very little light in the red portion of the visible spectrum so most of the light would be filtered out by a red lens."
does this actually make a difference ? Experience is a difficult teacher, because she gives the test first and then the lesson afterwards!!!!

Thanks NoDo$h for the info on the alternatives, I'll get the next lot from a shop, so I can take it back when they don't work and let them know what I think of their "Ultra bright LED's" and where they can but them!

I think they're trying to say that as the lamps light up faster, the people behind get to respond more quickly.
But I like your take on it better
